Who are we and what do we stand for?

What is Remarkable About Romiley?
RESILIENT
Anyone can 'get through it', but resilience is so much more. We want our children to face the challenges life will throw at them with confidence; being happy to make mistakes and learn from them; understanding the need for support and positivity (a resilient pessimist doesn't exit!); and having a growth mindset. We are preparing our children to solve problems that don't yet exist, they will undoubtedly find things hard in their lives - we don't want them to merely 'get through' we want them to thrive!
POSITIVE
Positivity speaks of so much more than blind optimism. It is being able to see the beauty in our world and appreciate the awe and wonder it has to offer. It is about being curious and confident and willing to step out of the comfort zone. It is being able to self-regulate emotions through recognising how we’re feeling; it is understanding that we have a tendency to focus on the negative, but we can actively counter this through our mindset and reflection and the support of others.
Creativity is one of our strengths at Romiley. Our staff are so creative with their lessons - the quality of the Art is amazing (come and see for yourself!); Music is phenominal (we have the biggest primary school choir in Stockport - any KS2 child can sing in it!); the English lessons are planned around texts and encorperate drama and oracy; and the year 6 production is one of the most impressive primary school productions you'll see - utilising our close links with NK Theatre and performing at a real theatre.
SUPPORT
We need the support of others. Romiley is a special community where we understand the need to collaborate and help one another. We understand that helping others is good for us as well. If we fall out, we don’t just ‘bin’ relationships, we work hard to restore them by exercising compassion, empathy and kindness. Our children need to know they are safe and cared for, that they belong regardless of what they look like or believe.
Our Vision
At Romiley Primary School we aim to foster the development of the whole child; we aim to equip and release learners who recognise, understand and utilise their ability to influence, challenge and lead culture rather than simply fit in to society and who are emotionally and academically ready for their next stage in learning.
Each child will be encouraged to develop intellectually, physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually through the experiences the school offers and the care which permeates our school.
We have high expectations of all our learners at Romiley Primary School. Our school values: Resilient, Positive, Supportive, form the bedrock of all we do - we recognise these are not mutually exclusive, rather completely interlinked. It is only by developing these attributes alongside enabling children to attain the very best they can academically, that our children can achieve their full potential.
