We are very lucky at Romiley Primary in having a fully stocked and staffed school library for the children’s use. Daily literacy lessons are supported by reading for pleasure: nothing teaches vocabulary, grammar, punctuation, style and spelling like a good book that is being thoroughly enjoyed! Each class has a timetabled weekly library visit, and the library is open most lunchtimes to individuals who want to change books, browse, or just have a quiet place to read. The library helps develop positive attitudes and skills, engaging pupils with the Dewey Decimal system from a young age, and encouraging children to enjoy books and to value and take care of them.
In the coming weeks we will be building a blog section about our Library and will highlight some of the activties that we all get involved with, so please come back and visit and see what we are doing.
